From what I can see, there is no major reason to not upgrade to QuickBooks at this time. Every year, when Intuit sunsets an older version of QuickBooks, we hear a great outcry over the practice. I do believe that it is appropriate for Intuit to discontinue support for older products , particularly with features that require an online service of some sort, I also believe that a software provider should make it relatively simple to upgrade your product to the latest version.
This is where I think the Intuit policy fails. If you are using the older product and you must upgrade to the current product so that you can continue to use these services, Intuit should provide a low-cost upgrade path.

This client is far from computer savy, so I am trying to avoid changing accounting softwares after investing so much time in training them on Quickbooks. The only feature they use that will be affected by the discontinution is payroll. Can this client use QB Online strictly for payroll only and continue to use their desktop version for writing checks and reconciling?
If so, can the payroll from QB Online be easily imported to the desktop version even after May 31, ? I've checked that you've posted the same question twice and my colleague MadelynC has already added an answer. Reach out to us if you need anything else. I'm always right here to help. Madeline gave me a link to purchase QB , which is a subscription. As I have already stated, that is not a feasible option for my client.
